Mother of Mayor Pbepin and Ii Pepin and Regent Clotilde and Comte Martin. Daughter of Pepin de Landen and Itte de Metz.

After the death of her husband, St.Begga in 691 bui lt at Andenne on the Meuse seven chapels representingthe Seven Church es of Rome, around a central church, and inconnection therewith she estab lished a convent and colonized it withnuns from her long-dead sister's ab bey at Nivelles. It afterwardsbecame a house of canonesses and the Later an canons regularcommemorate St. Begga as belonging to their order. S he is alsovenerated by the Beguines of Belgium as their patroness, but t hecommon statement that she founded them is a mistake due to thesimilari ty of the names.
