He writes: Moriarty mms. at NEHGS pp. 88-89, cites Benrath, ÒWer war die Kaiserin TheophanoÓ (1939), shows Theophana probably daughter of Leo Phokas, son of Sophia Phokas by her husband Constantin Skleros, brother of Marie, 1st wife of the Basileus John Tsimices.s descended from the Lekapenoi.
