Will of JOSHUA COXipossion ofbody but in perfect use of my reason and knowing it is appointed forall men to die, I do make, this my last will and testament first, thenI leave my soul to God who gave it and my body to be buried where myfriends think fitt and as for my worldly goods I do dispose of them inthe mannore and form following:equeath andleave to my loving wife the bed whereon we have ly on and her saddle, her cloths and a young mare of three year old of a gray colour and thethird of all my other goods. The other two thirds of my estate andgoods I leave and bequeath to my children to be equally divided amongthem and if it be so ordered in Providance that any of whom dy thenthat ones share shall be equally divided among the rest. I do appointthat soon after my death that all my goods and estate be prised andthe account taken and kept. If my wife shall think fitt to marry againthat, before she marry, that what I have left to my children besecured for them. There is a gun now in my house which was given to myson John in way of a gift which I acknowledge doth properly belong tohim. there is also a young black mare of three years old given by Mr.Cochran to my daughter Mary that doth properly belong to her. I doappoint my beloved wife and my son Richard to be my executors toperform this, my last will and testament, I do appoint my neighboreJohn Holiday and my brother-in--law, William Rankin, to oversee andassist my wife as to this my last will.f:l. It isclearly scrawled Joshua, NOT John as in the transcription. Maxwell, the man who transcribed Joshua's Will more neatly, used Joshua Cocksin the title per original, but used John Cox for the signature. Hishand also appears in proving of the Will on Jun 8, 1749 by thepeculiar way he does the figure 8. By using John, he must have knownJoshua personally. This adds support to the name John as said by theDublin College of Arms. I've removed 22 Apr from his birth date asconfused with the Will date. J. Coxy Cox isfurnished by the College of Arms, Dublin:) John, b.1678, d. 1692; (14) Walter, b. 1679, d. 1683; (5) George, b. 1681, d.1735; (6) Catherine, b. 1682; (7) Mary, b. 1683; (8) Amy, b. 1684; (9)Anne, b. 1685; (10) William, b. 1686; (11)Elizabeth, b. 1688; (12)Michael, b. 1691, d. 1779; (13) Susannah, b. 1692; (14) John, b. 1694;(15) Sarah, b. 1698.
