Aloysius Lentz

Aloysius Gonzaga Lentz, Male 20 November 1855 - Feb 1935

Born, Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa.

Died, Stuttgart, Arkansas County, Arkansas.

Son of Joseph Lentz and Lucinda Mattingly. Brother of Francis Lentz and Mary Lentz and Charles Lentz and John Lentz and Bernard Lentz and Lawrence Lentz and Lucy Lentz.

Mr. and Mrs. Lentz were married in Tipton, Indiana on April 21, 1884 by Rev. Frank Lentz, brother of the groom. Mrs. Lentz was formerly Miss Margaret Frances Rothgery. They left immediately after the ceremony for Lagrow, Indiana where Mr. Lentz helped in the construction of the hard roads. After three years they moved to Grand Junction, Iowa where they lived seven years before coming to Stuttgart in 1896. Mr. Lentz was one of Stuttgart's foremost contractors and helped a great deal in building up the city. He is an expert cabinet maker also, to attest to which fact, he can point our numerous remainders of his skill in Stuttgart homes. Mrs. Lentz is an accomplished needlewoman and musician. She has taught music in every place she has ever lived, having conducted an 18-piece orchestra here for several years.eslie and Sixth (603 S. Leslie), soon after they came here in 1896, and he also built a workshop in the back yard in which later years was converted into a home. The Lentz's retired and sold their home in 1919 and everything they had in Stuttgard and moved to California. They invested all their money in some sort of real estate scheme, where they planned to raise oranges. The project fell through and they lost all of their money and moved back to Stuttgard (in about 1920), where they bought a small cottage (corner of Ninth and Grand) and stayed there until they died.
