Brother of Mary Farr and John Farr and Martha Farr and Elizabeth Farr and Samuel Farr and William Farr and Cordelia Farr and Cornelia Farr.

Although James Henderson Farr grew up in a Methodist home, he later accepted the Quaker religion and preached for 37 years. He was a blacksmith, a millwright, farmer and a merchant at various times in his life.
