Born, Leatherington Abbey, Suffolk, England.

Married to Elizabeth Vere. Father of Margaret Wingfield and Anthony Wingfield and Henry Wingfield and John Wingfield and Elizabeth Wingfield and Marye Wingfield and Richard Wingfield and Charles Wingfield. Son of Anne Touchet and (Unknown) John.

He was Knighted by Henry VIII for bravery at the Battle of the Spurs on August 16, 1513. He was installed Knight of the Garter of Leatheringham on May 8, 1541. He was Privy Councillor, executor of the King, about January 1547. He was one of the Guardians of the boy King, Edward VI between January 1547 and July 1553
