There is a gun now in my house which was given to myson John in way of a gift which I acknowledge doth properly belong tohim. there is also a young black mare of three years old given by Mr.Cochran to my daughter Mary that doth properly belong to her. I doappoint my beloved wife and my son Richard to be my executors toperform this, my last will and testament, I do appoint my neighboreJohn Holiday and my brother-in--law, William Rankin, to oversee andassist my wife as to this my last will.f:l. It isclearly scrawled Joshua, NOT John as in the transcription. Maxwell, the man who transcribed Joshua's Will more neatly, used Joshua Cocksin the title per original, but used John Cox for the signature. Hishand also appears in proving of the Will on Jun 8, 1749 by thepeculiar way he does the figure 8. By using John, he must have knownJoshua personally. This adds support to the name John as said by theDublin College of Arms. I've removed 22 Apr from his birth date asconfused with the Will date. J.
